Whitemouth Spotted Moray Eel

The Whitemouth Spotted Moray Eel is a common sight in the coral reefs of the Hawaiian Islands. The moray population is very widespread and can be found in all tropical seas.

This docile eel typically grows to be about one meter in length. It is usually found in crevices and under coral heads.

Eels have poor eyesight and rely heavily on their sense of smell. They have four nostrils, two for long range smelling and two for close up.

An eel is a fish. It has gills and scales. The scales of eels are so tiny and deeply set in their skin that they appear to be scaleless.
